About the Presenter

Ezra Cowan holds a doctorate in psychology from Kean University in Union, NJ. He is currently a licensed psychologist in Rockland County, NY where is specializes in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, perfectionism, and misophonia.

     Review of OCD (15 mins)
        definitions
        phenomenology
        review of subtypes
    Discussion of scrupulosity/moral/religious OCD subtype (10 min)
        How it presents
    Difficulties associated with treatment of religious OCD (25 mins)
        How symptoms may overlap with normative behaviors and rituals
    Reviewing a conceptualization of religious OCD that can help overcome these difficulties 1:10
        learning to distinguish between OCD and normative behavior
    Discussing different subtypes of religious scrupulosity and their therapeutic implications (15 mins)
