”You have so much pain inside yourself that you try and hurt yourself on the outside because you want help.”
– Princess Diana
Recent years have seen an alarming increase in the incidence of deliberate self-harm (DSH). It has become a significant health issue and a pressing problem faced by clinicians in emergency settings and psychiatrists. However, it is often difficult to ascertain the pathology underlying such behavior, making it difficult to manage. The difference between threat levels should be analyzed to find the best course of support for treatment. Clinically it is essential to distinguish self-harm events from suicide attempts as patient management may differ. This training will show clinicians how to assess risk, determine effective level of care, and manage a client's crisis.
